60th Annual Grammy Highlight Performance

Grammy Time!

The Grammy Premiere Jan 28th on CBS that took place in New York City. The Grammy kicked off the show with a warm political performance from Kendrick Lamar. Lamar opened up the show with masked soldiers as he stood smacked dead in the middle rapping a verse from” XXX.” The Compton rapper was then joined by U2 to perform a quick performance of “American Soul”, within in the duo performance – was an interruption from comedian Dave Chappelle  who stated

“I just wanted to remind the audience that the only thing more frightening than watching a black man be honest in America is being an honest black man in America”. After that statement the performance got “real” with dancer coming out in all red being shot down. Kendrick also swap the Grammy away taking home 6 Grammy’s.


Janelle Monae gave Kesha an powerful introduction for, by stating “We are also daughters, wives, mothers, sisters, and human beings. We come in peace, but we mean business,” in reference with the Time Up/#MeToo Campaign. After Kesha spent a year battling with her former producer over sexual allegation. Kesha brought out a gain of female singers that include it  Andra Day, Bebe Rexha, Camila Cabello, Cyndi Lauper,  and Julia Michaels to support her during her performance of ” Pray”

The Performance that everyone was waiting to see was the infamous Bruno Mars and the regular duglar girl from the bronx Cardi B. The duo came out and did a colorful performance to their hit song”Finesse”.Like always Bruno showed of his stellar dance moves and Cardi B even gave us a snippet of “Bartier Cardi” during their performance. Bruno Mars took home two Grammy’s.

Another warm-ful yet surprising performance came from Actor/Comedian Rapper and Singer Donald Glover AKA Childish Gambino who sung an amazing performance of “Terrified” in an all white Tux. At the end of Gambino performance he was accompanied by young singer JD McCrary.

One of the mos t unexpected performance of the night was from DJ Khaled, Rihanna and Bryson Tiller. Turning their hit song “Wild Thoughts” into a 1960 theme party on the Grammy stage. Rihanna was able to take over the stage with her dance moves and Bryson brought the smoothness to the stage.

Although many feel as SZA was snub by the Grammy’s, she gave the audience a meaningful performance. Singing her heart out of her hit record Broken Clocks. The soulful singer was nominated for 5 awards this yea making her the most Grammy nominated woman of 2018.

This year Grammy had some amazing performance and break out artists. The DMV Daily look forward to the next year Grammy performance.
