BALTIMORE (TheDMVDaily) — Baltimore held its fifth annual ceasefire last Friday. Baltimore City Police reports list 2 people dying and 5 suffering injuries.

The goal of the ceasefire is to halt shootings in the city over the entire weekend.

A 27-year-old man died from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body around 7:35 P.M in the 2400 block of Wilkens Avenue.

The other shooting occurred in the 900 block of Broadway. The shooting happened at 5:30 P.M. and the unidentified man died from his wounds later.

Five total shootings took place during the weekend. The last four ceasefires have resulted in 3 deaths.

Organizer Erricka Bridgeford says, “Baltimoreans put in this work all year round, every three months injecting love, injecting hope, injecting action into this city.”

So far there have been 169 murders in the city this year. That is 20 percent less than the city had last year. Baltimore City Police also say non-fatal shootings are down.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact them at 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7lockup.

For more information on the ceasefire program, check their website.
