Meet The DMV: HORU Music Experience

HORU Music Experience was founded by Anthony Brown – a former member of the band Experience Unlimited (EU), and is well known to the Go-Go music community as ―OoLa Tony‖. HORU Music Experience came into existence in late 2014 after a recording studio session at Night Flight studios in Fort Washington Md. The energy of the musicians was so great that it became a discussion to form a band. After much discussion and a little planning a band was formed. The name ―Horu‖ derived from the ancient Kemmet word ―Horus‖ and means (in short) the third eye— ―Seeing what others don’t see‖. HORU is also an acryonym: (H)elping (O)thers (Relax) and (Unwind). The founder, OoLa Tony, has always felt that it was hard to get others to see music like he saw it; was always difficult. That was until he would bring it to fruition – to be enjoyed by audiences and performed amongst other musicians. Fast forward —– After the re-recording of a cover song called ―What you won’t do for love‖ originally recorded by BOBBY CALDWELL [and re-titled ―Do For Luv‖], it was decided that it should be promoted for all to hear. It was presented to Ms Adrienne ―Dre Dre‖ Burkley to do the promotion and she immediately felt that we had something special – a for sure hit. After meeting with Adrienne for a few times and doing promotional business with her, we determined that she would make a great manager for the band. and she accepted the role. Also being musician and vocalist herself, Ms. Burkley would come to make great contributions to Horu, alongside many other musical vets.

HORU Music Experience is a DC native band that presents danceable grooves in the genres of R&B, Soul, Pop, contemporary jazz, and especially ―Funk‖ — our strongest attribute, which is laced with an authentic DC sound.
